about

Recording covers during the quarantine to keep busy and maintain sanity. Will this get beyond one song? Check back and find out.

I am lucky to still be working. Instead of throwing some money my way, I insist you check out a couple of options for those in need:

100% of the proceeds from this compilation support a new field hospital built by volunteers in Bergamo, Italy. I recorded the Midwest Beat track on that comp, and they took me on tour to Europe with them in 2015. Our Bergamo friends are excellent people, and their city is really hurting right now. Check it out and send them some money & love.

Or go here and tip some service industry folks in Madison (if you're not from around here, might I recommend tipping the fine people at Mickey's Tavern.....they graciously put up with Rocket Bureau live shows).

SONG INFO:
1. Originally released as the b-side of a single in 1971 by Steve Martin (aka Steve Martin-Caro, not the wonderful comedian). Written by Michael Brown, this is for all intents and purposes a late song by The Left Banke.

2. Written by R. Skurow, H. Calter, G. Kato. Originally released as the b-side of a single by Las Vegas band Skurow in 1974. It also made an appearance with related material on a 1977 tax scam LP credited to "Sunshine".

3. Written by Wayne Mason. This is the b-side of a 1970 single by Pipp, aka The Fourmyula, who were from New Zealand. This single was recorded by the band while in the UK, and got released there and in the US under the name "Pipp".

4. Written by Brian Hyland and Del Shannon. This was the b-side of a Del Shannon single from 1969. It was not a hit. Why this wasn't the A-side I will never understand.

5. Writer unknown, covered from the UK band Stray. They recorded it as part of a demo for Pye Records in 1969.
